Galaxy Fire Protection Specialists were asked to get involved at early stage with a Rainscreen contractor to help with identifying the most suitable ventilated Rainscreen fire barrier system for a 562 bed student accommodation in North London.
Sheathed with Euroclass A1 Siniat Weather Defence, the project was to receive a non-combustible rainscreen slab and have the fire barrier installed concurrently.
Construction detailing and interfaces with various materials on the façade and the supporting structure presented issue with many Fire Barriers as available test data could not cover each scenario.
With significant interrogation of test data and understanding of the performance required, closely followed by in depth discussion with the site team for practical installation, suitable fire barrier system was identified allowing the designers vision to be realised.
Galaxy Fire Protection Specialists attended site visits with the Subcontractor through the installation phase to offer an opinion on the installed works and illustrate the test evidence for the interface detailing supported by the Fire barrier manufacturer.
With thoughtful and communicative logistics, the façade of the project was completed with a compliant fire barrier solution and the project was kept on program.
